Saddleback Silicon Valley One Life

Welcome to the
Saddleback Silicon Valley Extension

Who Are We?

Saddleback Church started with two young church planters, a dream, and a map. God gave Pastors Rick and Kay Warren the dream to plant a church for people who didn’t like church, and he led them to Southern California.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many churches were not able to meet safely, but Saddleback’s online community grew, and in the Bay Area, once it became safe, a number of believers, including a number of Saddleback Southern California “ex-pats,” started our extension on March 20, 2022, in Milpitas.

Pastors Andy and Stacie Wood started their ministry in California as church planters in the Bay Area. They began Echo Church in 2009, and it eventually became one of the fastest growing churches in the area. God called them to transition into leadership at Saddleback Church as Pastor Rick Warren stepped down from his role of senior pastor on September 10, 2022.

The Saddleback Silicon Valley Extension is a group of Saddleback Church members living in the Silicon Valley area, meeting together regularly for worship and fellowship.

Currently, we meet every other week for an in-person worship time in Northern San Jose, and on the other Sundays, we meet for brunch and a small group study in Northern San Jose.

At Saddleback, we often say we are “better together,” and also use the words “family” and “community.” That’s because we are, and we want everyone to feel welcome and wanted, wherever they are.

Check out our schedule of events, and if you have any questions, please contact us with the form below. We can’t wait to meet you!

Upcoming Events

Saddleback Singles ZtoZ
September 20, 2024 | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Pacific Time | Online

Each Friday we meet from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm discussing the Talk It Over notes from the previous week’s service over Zoom.

Please note that you will need an authenticated Zoom account, and please set your name to your actual name, ideally appending the city you’re in—we have members from around the country and the world, so it helps to identify our neighbors. If you don’t include your real name, you may not be permitted entry.

After introducing any newcomers, we will begin the Bible study shortly after 7:00 pm, finishing up around 8:30 pm. As time allows, we will chat afterwards. It helps to keep your video on for visual cues to know if someone might be ready to share, but first timers can just hang back and soak it in.

Small Group Guidelines
Clear Purpose
To grow healthy, spiritual lives by balancing the 5 Biblical purposes
Group Attendance
To give priority to the group meeting time (call if I am absent or late)
Safe Environment
To create a safe place where people can be heard and feel loved so we will be careful with being judgmental, giving quick answers, and offering our simple fixes to complex situations
Be Confidential
To keep anything that is shared strictly confidential and within the group (unless someone states they are going to hurt someone else or themselves)
Conflict Resolution
To avoid gossip and to immediately resolve any concerns by following the principles of Matthew 18:15-17, which begins with going directly to the person with whom we have an issue
Spiritual Health
To challenge and encourage one another to live a healthy and balanced spiritual life that is pleasing to God
Limit Our Freedom
To limit our freedom by not serving or consuming alcohol during Small Group meetings or events to avoid causing a weaker believer to stumble and not showing up intoxicated (1 Corinthians 8:1-13, Romans 14:19-21)
Welcome Newcomers
To invite our friends who might benefit from this study and warmly welcome newcomers
Building Relationships
To get to know one another outside of the group time and pray for each other regularly
PEACE Motivated
To work towards understanding how our group can effectively do personal, local, and global PEACE
Shared Responsibility
To work with each other and develop group ownership as each one of us helps with group responsibilities (rotate homes, study facilitators, snacks, drinks, collect prayer requests, etc)
